Thanksgiving by Edna Valley Vineyard
Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays, complete with a festive table of classic holiday dishes and loved ones to toast the many things to be thankful for.
At Edna Valley Vineyard, we have a lot we are grateful for, and look forward to celebrating and enjoying those familiar flavors and enticing aromas of a traditional Thanksgiving feast.
Whether you’re hosting the feast this year, or planning on being a guest at someone’s home, we have some terrific Thanksgiving food and wine pairings, hostess gift ideas, and recipes to liven up your holiday.
Thanksgiving Wine Pairings
A Thanksgiving meal is a feast of distinct flavors and textures from rich, creamy mashed potatoes to succulent turkey and fresh fall vegetables and greens. The variety of entrées and sides can make pairing with wine seem daunting, but the diverse flavors can make it easier.
For the red wine drinkers, we recommend our Central Coast Pinot Noir. Hints of violet and black cherry lead to flavors of fresh baked blackberry pie with a silky mouthfeel and vibrant acidity. This wine pairs well with your Thanksgiving turkey and all the fixings.
For those who prefer white wines, try our Central Coast Chardonnay. A delightful wine with aromas of crisp green apple and hints of lemon zest, along with a vibrant acidity and supple, generous mouthfeel. This white will complement the rich, buttery flavors of holiday staples like mashed potatoes and stuffing.
If you’re planning on spending your Thanksgiving at someone’s home, consider picking up several bottles of wine for your hosts or create a simple, fall-themed wine gift basket. Fall foliage makes the perfect base for a wine basket, and include our Central Coast Pinot Noir and Central Coast Chardonnay and other fun seasonal items. For example, leaf shaped wine charms, autumn scented candles, and hand moisturizer for soothing relief after days of prepping and cooking by your host.
From small bites to side dishes, we’ve pulled together some terrific fall-inspired recipes that can be a fun and surprising complement to the usual Thanksgiving fare. These dishes can also be a good way to reuse holiday leftovers.
Our Cranberry Pecan Cheese Bites are the perfect light bites to enjoy before dinner or as a tasty snack. Enjoy with a glass of our Central Coast Chardonnay.
